Legal
Terms and conditions
Last updated: September 19, 2026
These terms govern the use of CatFinder, an app developed by
Gatiten Software (Chile). By creating an account and using the app, you
accept what follows.
1. What CatFinder is
CatFinder is a community tool for reporting stray cats and seeing them on a map. The
information you will find is published by other users, not by us.
CatFinder is not a rescue, veterinary or emergency service. We do
not dispatch help, coordinate rescues or verify the condition of reported animals.
If an animal is in danger, contact a veterinary clinic or a rescue organization in
your area.
2. Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account.
- The information you provide when registering must be true, and you must keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for the activity on your account and for safeguarding your password.
- A person should not create multiple accounts to evade limits or moderation sanctions.
- You can delete your account whenever you want, as explained in delete data.
3. What you publish
You remain the owner of the photographs and text you publish. By publishing them you
grant us a free, non-exclusive permission to host and display them inside the app to
other users, for the sole purpose of making CatFinder work. That permission ends when
you delete the content or your account.
By publishing, you declare that:
- The photographs are yours or you have permission to use them.
- The information in the report is, as far as you know, true.
- You are not publishing third parties' personal data without their consent.
4. What is not allowed
- Publishing fake reports, deliberate duplicates or invented locations.
- Uploading content unrelated to a cat or to the reported situation.
- Publishing images of violence or animal abuse for purposes other than reporting the situation to the relevant authorities.
- Using the app to harass, threaten, impersonate or expose other people.
- Publishing addresses, phone numbers or other personal data of third parties.
- Using the app's data to locate, capture or harm animals.
- Extracting data in bulk or by automated means, or attempting to compromise the service.
- Using CatFinder to sell animals or for any unauthorized commercial purpose.
5. Moderation
Any user can report a post from within the app. Reports are reviewed one by one and may
result in the removal of the post and, where warranted, in the suspension or deletion
of the responsible account.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms or the law, without
prior notice where the case is serious or urgent. If you believe a moderation decision
was a mistake, write to
support@catfinderapp.com and we will
review it.
6. Accuracy of the information
Reports are published by the community and may be out of date, imprecise or wrong: a
cat may have moved, been rescued or have an owner. We do not guarantee the accuracy of
any report and we ask you to use your own judgement before acting on one.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep CatFinder available at all times, but there may be interruptions due to
maintenance, technical failures or causes beyond our control. We may modify, suspend or
discontinue features of the app. If a change affects you significantly, we will tell
you inside the app.
We may also update these terms. The date in the header indicates the latest version,
and important changes are announced inside the app before they take effect.
8. Liability
CatFinder is provided as is, free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, Gatiten
Software is not liable for damages arising from the use of the app, from content
published by other people, from the inability to access the service or from decisions
you make based on the information you see in it.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by the consumer protection
legislation that applies to you.
9. Privacy
The processing of your personal data is governed by our
privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile. Any dispute shall be
submitted to the competent courts of Chile, without prejudice to the rights the law
grants you to bring a claim where you reside.
